Privacy Policy

This page describes what happens to your information when you use RuleShelf.

Analytics

Like most websites, RuleShelf may use standard web analytics (such as Google Analytics and Vercel's built-in web analytics) to understand which pages are read and how the site is generally being used, so we can improve it. This data is aggregated and does not identify you personally. Analytics providers may set cookies in your browser as part of this measurement, and standard technical data such as your approximate region, device type and the page you visited may be recorded as part of that aggregate picture.

Contact form and email

If you use the contact form, the message is submitted through Formspree, a third-party form processor, before it reaches us by email; Formspree's own privacy policy governs that brief handling step. If you contact us directly, we retain your message and email address only for as long as needed to respond and to keep a record of any correction made as a result. If you sign up for the newsletter, your email address is stored with Brevo, our email delivery provider, so it can send the newsletter and the one-time welcome email. We do not sell or share contact or newsletter information with third parties for marketing purposes. If your message results in a rules correction to a page, the correction itself is public (it's the page content), but your name and email address are never published alongside it.

Payments

If you purchase the Score Sheet Mega-Pack or make a donation through Support Us, payment is processed by Stripe, our payment processor. We do not receive or store your full card details — Stripe handles that directly under its own security and privacy terms. We may receive limited transaction information from Stripe (such as confirmation that a payment succeeded and the amount) in order to fulfill a purchase or acknowledge a donation.

A small number of pages (score sheets and tools) link to specific products on Amazon through the Amazon Associates program. These are ordinary outbound links, clearly marked as affiliate links on the page; clicking one takes you to Amazon, where Amazon's own privacy policy and any tracking it uses on its own site apply, not ours. We may earn a commission on a resulting purchase at no cost to you.

Cookies

Cookies on this site are used for standard functional and analytics purposes described above. We do not use cookies to build cross-site advertising profiles of individual readers, and the client-side tools on this site (the scorekeepers and game picker) store their state locally in your browser rather than in a cookie or on a server.

Your choices

You can control cookies through your browser's settings at any time, including blocking or deleting them. Doing so may affect some site functionality but will not prevent you from reading any rules page. Because the scorekeeping tools save their state locally in your browser rather than via a cookie, clearing your browser's site data will also clear any in-progress scores you had saved.

Third parties

We use a small number of third-party services to run this site: an analytics provider, a payment processor for purchases and donations, and infrastructure providers for hosting and email delivery. Each operates under its own privacy policy, and none receives more information from us than is needed to perform its specific function.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, the update date below will change accordingly. Contact us at the contact page with any privacy questions.
